I love a fresh start, don’t you?

I love a fresh start, don’t you?

A new year, new beginnings, and as I have seen a few times now all over my social feeds …

page 1 of your new book

I love fresh starts, and new beginnings. I love to start the year completely re-energised and decluttered of all the nonsense, hang ups, grudges, left overs, bad vibes, unfinished business and pretty much all the bits and bobs I want to leave behind. January comes around and we all have new ideas, and new plans for ourselves. We have decided that things will be different this year, and this year I will be in control of what happens when it comes to anything to do with me. Right?
But how … how do you get yourself on track for a great year?

Here’s to a fabulous year!

I have spent a large part of my time at home cleaning out, changing up things, and buying some things for the house that I have been wanting for some time now. And yes, I know I might be the exception. Most people want the end of the year to come around so they can disappear to the coast and lie on a beach for weeks and that is how they relax. Well I relax by being at home, in my home, really relaxing with some serious down time.

But what I also do is plan my year ahead. That is why I take time to clean out all the stuff we have managed to hoard over the year, and yes, the husband can hoard and collect! I also love to change stuff around, so if something hasn’t been working for me I change it up, and move things around. I plan out my year diary with all the details I need to remember. And most importantly I set out my dreams, goals, desires, whatever it is you want to call them for the year ahead. What I want, physically, mentally and emotionally for me.

I love it … and yes I know I am not like everyone else lying on beach with a cocktail in their hand.

So now that you are back from the beach or a break somewhere in the world, maybe even back at your desk … how do you set yourself on track for a great year? Here is what I would suggest for you … 4 easy steps to start today, and get yourself on track for a fantastic year.

4 easy steps to get yourself on track for a year with you at the centre

1 – Your goals, dreams and desires

Decide what it is that you want. What do you really want to achieve, get, reach … this year. Be honest, and don’t hold back … you are the only person who looks out for you, so make sure to keep you at the centre of all that you want. Because I promise you this- when you are happy, because you are doing what you want to do, everyone who comes in contact with you will be happy to. That is because you are giving off some happy vibes. If you don’t have a dream or a goal, you won’t get anywhere this year, and that is a fact. So what do you want?

2 – What can you get rid of or change that might be holding you back or making you feel claustrophobic

Now this is something that we all avoid, often. But let me explain why you need to think this through. Here is a thought for you ~ in order to get something you want, you have to make space for it. Haven’t you heard the saying : when one door closes another opens. Well this is why it opens, because you close one or two beforehand. What is it that is holding you back? Maybe your office is so full of stuff that you cannot see the wood for the trees. And the mess actually makes you dread going in there because it reminds you of all you need to do, or get to. If that is the case you will never really be productive in your office space, because you energy doesn’t enjoy being there, so how would you achieve anything in that space? So what can you toss or change?

3 – Plan and plan some more

Planning is key, and you need some serious space to do it so I hope that you have got rid of all the C-R-A-P that is not necessary in your space. Plan your life. Make space and time for:

  • some serious you time;
  • getting some real inspiration for your soul and mind;
  • to do all your chores at the same time so you done once a month;
  • to get to your emails, not every time one beeps in your inbox, but a few times a day to get to them all but not to consume you;
  • checking in on your goals and dreams you want for the year, and how you are tracking on achieving them;
  • and then obviously time to work 🙂

Planning is so important, because when you organized you will get things done. And when you getting things done, you start to achieve the things you want.

When you begin to achieve the things you want, you start to achieve more, and more, and more. So plan!

4 – Find someone to help you stay accountable

Now this is probably the most important step, of them all, ever, ever and ever! So many of us don’t get the support that we need in our career because we don’t know where to look or we are worried about investing. But the right mentor and/or coach will help you stay accountable to what you want … they will help you make the mindset shifts and breakthroughs you will battle to do alone.
You want someone to keep you on track to your goals and desires and dreams, remind you of all the hard hard work you have done to come this far, and be completely objective with you. This someone will make sure that you never give up on you until you believe in you, and until you have total and utter faith in you to be the best you that you can be! (Try to say that after a glass of wine!) But do this, get someone now!

Find someone to keep you accountable to your dreams.

One last parting thought for you … to help you get on track, and hopefully stay on track …

I was asked recently if I thought achieving my goals and dreams was all about hard work. And my answer was:

The hard work cannot begin until you believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself you will think you can, and if you don’t think you can why would you even start the hard work. Once you know you have a dream or a goal, or whatever it is that you want … you have to without a shadow of a doubt, believe that you can achieve it, that you can get it, that you can have it.
The real hard work is actually working on you.

You can read more of that here if you like.

I really hope this has helped you to get on track for an incredible year! And if you want to share with others, please do (all the links to share are below). And if you want to comment on ideas you have for me … please do too!

Here’s to a great year!
