19 Feb A few pictures I always take, to help me
I came across an article a while back (from Apartment Therapy, whose blog I just love getting on a Saturday and consuming!!! You can check out the full article and blog here) about photo’s you should always take … and I thought it made a lot of sense, so I have taken out the one’s I think were the best in the context of making us all more organized, and added a few of my own for you … we take so many pictures these days because of our phones, and selfies, and foodies … so let’s use our camera’s to make us more organized and sorted in life!
Here we go … what to take pictures of:
All those cords behind appliances- yes, go and take pics of all the chords behind appliances, especially if you about to move, but even if you are not … that way you know what goes where all the time, and you never have to stress about it!
Your parking spot- if you are prone to forget where you park, take a picture of the pillar that has the colour floor, the number of the floor and the row letter (which is usually how underground parking bays work) … if you in an open parking area, take pics as you going away from the car so you can just follow them back to your car when you done shopping.
Coat tickets- now this I can attest to. I went to a conference in Germany and you had to check your coats in (it was freezing outside and warm inside) – there must have been over 1000 coats checked in – so you got a ticket. I stuck mine in my cellphone cover, but forgot it was there … when I went to get my ticket, I couldn’t find, and it was such a story … because obviously they didn’t want to give me my coat. Luckily I was with people who had checked in coats with me, so we knew the number range, and I explained my coat in so much detail when they found it they couldn’t not give it to me … and then I found the ticket back at the hotel!!! So take a pic incase you lose it.
A business card on your camera- this is such a good one, take a picture of your business card on your camera, and never delete that pic … so if you lose your camera (which hopefully never happens) the person who finds it can find you straight away. Smart right!
Luggage- I thought this was a good one, a pic of your luggage as it leaves you, just incase you get to the other side and it doesn’t come out when it should. I know they stick all those stickers on the suitcases, but always good to have.
New haircuts- the hair dresser does a new “do” on you, and it looks amazing, and then we can never get it right at home … so snap a selfie as you leave (or get her to) of the front, sides and back – that way you have a reference to look at when you trying to replicate it yourself, at home, with your tools (which always seem to be the wrong tools when you cannot get it right!!!).
Amazing Make-up Days- the same goes for your good make up days, when you get it looking to “your perfect” take a pic and keep it for future.
Moving in to a rented place- take pictures of anything that is broken, or would be a claim against you when you move out … and send that to your landlord immediately, so you all have record of what was what when you moved in!
Anything and everything you own that you insure- this is one I live by, I take pics for when you have to claim, that way you send what you had to your insurance so that you make sure you get a new “exactly what you had” item. And nowadays some insurance companies allow you to post pictures of your appliances and insured items on their site.
Conference notes- now you don’t need to furiously take notes at a conference, trying to get everything the speaker says down, and listen, and be inspired, and learn … too much!!! You will definitely miss a nugget – so when they put up a slide, or write on a flip chart – take a picture of it. Once you back at work you can load each picture into Keynote/Powerpoint and there you have all your notes, in order.
Contact details and website addresses you want to go and check out- when I read a magazine somewhere I often come across content I want to go and look up, read more on, or investigate … and you invariably don’t have a pen and paper around to make a note, so I take a picture and then I can open them up when I am back at my office, and take my time to find out all I wanted to …
Fashion and Decor Ideas- when I see something I like, online, in real life, in a magazine, wherever, if I like it, I take a picture and save it, so I can go and reference it later when I want to – often the decor ideas I add to my Wish Lists per room in my house, or my Evernotes, or my Pinterest boards.
And lastly, I couldn’t make a list of pictures I take without including a note on takinglots of pictures of my munchkins!!!!
I hope that helps you in some small way, and thank you Apartment Therapy for some of the new ideas for me 🙂
